Something to Wear All Summer Long

Posted on May 16 2026

Pattern: Hør No 19

Designer: Lone Kjeldsen

Yarn:. BC Garn Lino

Hør is the Danish name for linen, lino, linn, flax.

The Yarn

BC Garn Lino is linen at its best — and that's not just marketing language. There's something genuinely special about a yarn that's both shiny and a little rustic at the same time, with an amazing colour range.

The linen fibre comes from Italy, and the yarn is spun and dyed in Serbia using dyes free of animal derivates, making Lino a truly vegan yarn. It's available in the shop in a range of colours that lean into that honest, earthy elegance linen does so well.

One more thing worth knowing: linen gets better with time. With each wash and each wear, you will find the garment gets so much softer. The yarn you cast on with today will be noticeably softer after a few washes, and more beautiful still a year from now. That's the particular magic of natural linen.

The Pattern

HØR No. 19 is the nineteenth design in Lone Kjeldsen's beloved linen series of blouses, tops or t-shirts for summer. This is a boxy, wide, beautifully oversized tee — the kind of thing you pull on over a strapless dress on a cool summer evening, or wear with linen trousers on a warm afternoon, and forget to take off because it's just so comfortable.

The checkered knit/purl stitch pattern is where this design earns its texture. It's not complicated, but it's endlessly satisfying to work, and it showcases the amazing qualities of linen . The silhouette is relaxed and forgiving, with 10–12 inches of recommended ease built in.

How It's Constructed

HØR No. 19 is worked in the round from the hem up, which keeps things straightforward through the body. As you approach the upper section, you'll increase for the sleeves and then work the back and front separately, flat. Shoulder shaping is done with short rows — a technique that's worth learning if you haven't already, and satisfying to finally understand if you have.

The finishing detail that makes this pattern distinctly Lone Kjeldsen is the edging: a characteristic I-cord with purl stitches, worked on afterward. It creates a polished, considered finish that looks far more intricate than it actually is.

If you aren't familiar with linen yarn, there are a few things that will help you go in with realistic expectations. Linen has very little stretch — it behaves quite differently from wool on the needles, and it can feel almost stiff when you first cast on. Don't be discouraged by that. After washing and wearing, the fabric relaxes and drapes beautifully, and the gauge shifts slightly too (the pattern accounts for this — there are separate gauge measurements before and after washing). Trust the process, block your swatch, and let the fibre do what it does best.
