The Vest That Goes With Everything

TONI Vest by Susanne Müller

Lamana Como (DK Weight)

Some projects call for yarn that quietly does everything well.

Soft enough to wear next to the skin.
Light enough to layer comfortably.
Beautiful enough that even a simple garment feels special.

That’s exactly where Lamana Como shines.

Como is a superlight DK yarn spun from 100% superfine merino wool (18.5 microns). Using an innovative spinning method, the yarn achieves an impressive 120 metres in just 25 grams, creating a fabric that feels incredibly light while still holding its shape beautifully.

The merino fibres give the yarn wonderful temperature-regulating and breathable qualities, making garments comfortable across seasons. The gentle halo of wool creates a refined, softly matte surface that feels quietly luxurious rather than flashy.

Even better, the wool used for Como is mulesing-free and sourced from carefully selected Australian farms. It is spun and dyed in Italy by a family-run mill and certified for animal welfare, sustainability, and social responsibility. The dyes also meet the OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 for baby products, making it a reassuring choice for garments worn close to the skin.

Despite its softness, Como is surprisingly practical. It’s machine washable on a gentle cycle (though not superwash treated) and holds its shape beautifully thanks to the natural elasticity of merino wool.

All of these qualities make it an ideal yarn for garments like the TONI Vest — lightweight, elegant, and wonderfully wearable.

Pattern Spotlight

The TONI Vest by Susanne Müller is the definition of a wardrobe all-rounder.

With its clean V-neck shape, it can be worn on its own or layered effortlessly over blouses, T-shirts, or dresses. The relaxed fit and thoughtful shaping give it that easy balance between polished and comfortable.

It’s the kind of piece that quietly becomes part of your everyday wardrobe.

Simple enough to knit without fuss, yet refined enough that you’ll reach for it again and again.

Construction Overview

The vest is worked seamlessly from the top down, which makes it easy to customize the length to suit your style.

The back is shaped first using increases. The left and right front sections are then worked directly onto the back. Once these sections are joined, the body is worked flat until the desired length is reached.

The vest is finished with a ribbed border, while the front band is added afterwards using the double knitting technique, creating a neat and structured edge.

Techniques used include:

  • Left and right leaning increases (knitwise and purlwise)

  • Left and right leaning decreases

  • Italian bind-off

  • Double knitting
