Tukuwool DK is made in Finland. Spun and dyed in Finland from 100 % Finnish wool, Tukuwool DK has the same unique characteristics that you fell in love with in Tukuwool Fingering! Lively woolen spun two-ply yarn is a delight to knit. Tukuwool DK is a genuine workhorse yarn for sweaters and accessories such as mittens and hats.
Tukuwool DK is at its best in colorwork as well as structures such as cables. After wet blocking the stitches relax and the fabric softens and evens.
The wool for Tukuwool DK comes from Finnish sheep farms that grow Finnsheep and Finnsheep/Texel breeds. Woolen spun Finnsheep wool is warm and airy, soft and rustic.
DK stands for Double Knitting weight, approximately 22 sts per 10 cm on 4mm needles. You may go with needles 3.75-4.5 and the gauge will vary between 18-22 sts. Depending on your project you may choose Tukuwool DK even though the pattern calls for a worsted weight yarn. Swatching is the best way to find out if the yarn is suitable for the chosen pattern.
